Grant Stevens is a truly unique globe-trotting artist that I'm thrilled to announce as my first MRC Tasmanian signing. The album is Grant's AOR flavoured singer/songwriter CBS Records major label debut, 'Grant Stevens', originally released in 1989.

Grant Stevens grew up in Sydney's western suburbs, forming his first band in high-school then leaving for London at age 18 to gain experience in the European market. He was fortunate to meet and perform with the The Who producer Kit Lambert and to get major label record deals with 2 London bands, Soho Jets and Razar. He built his home and career in Germany since 1985, was the establishing himself in the music business, writing lyrics for many different artists and also singing both in the recording studio and on tours as backing vocalist for major artists.

His debut album has been remastered by JK Northrup along with several bonus tracks and b-sides tracked down for this release.

As an added bonus, we had JK Northrup remaster Grant's 1999 solo album as well, including in this limited edition 500 run as a bonus disc. The album treads a more updated path, while remaining melodic to the core.

Grant Stevens in his own words:
“I grew up in Sydney's western suburbs always knowing I wanted to write and perform music. My passion for music was evident from an early age, from singing on public transport with my Nanna (more about her later) at pre-school age, to my first high school band, to playing my first big venues. I left for London at 18 to gain experience in the European market and was fortunate to meet and perform with the The Who producer Kit Lambert and to get major label record deals with my 2 London bands, Soho Jets and Razar. These years were invaluable to learning my craft.

Although I have built my home and career in Germany since 1985, my connection to my roots and particularly Sydney, has always remained strong. Each year I return to Sydney to reconnect with family and friends and to walk the Streets Of Sydney, a place that remains in my heart.

My back pages:
1985 was the year I moved permanently to Germany where I established myself in the music business, writing lyrics for many different artists and also singing both in the recording studio and on tours as backing vocalist for major artists.

Some of the artists I've worked with either as singer, producer or lyricist: Jennifer Rush, Christopher Cross, Percy Sledge, Noiseworks, Rhythm Corporation (Wild for you, C&A TV and cinema Spot), Barry Ryan, Dan McCafferty, Chris Norman, Sash!, Johnny Logan, Bela B, Far Corporation, T.V. Smith, Peter Fleischmann (film title song “Hard to a God”), Obsession (lyrics to Soundtrack for the Peter Sehr film starring Daniel Craig), Robin Hood (German language Musical).

In 1996 I recorded and wrote the lyrics to the German hit “Everlasting Friends” which was used as a TV jingle for Holsten Pilsener in Europe selling over one million copies. I have since written the lyrics to 2 successful musicals; “Die Schöne und das Biest” and “Robin Hood”. In 2000 the unheilig album Phosphor was released containing the underground classic "Sage Ja!”, all songs being co-written by Der Graf and myself. I contributed a song to the German ARD production "Contergan” which won the Golden Camera 2008, ver.di Media prize 2008 und a Bambi prize 2007. In 2014 I had a part in re-recording and writing the soundtrack to Wim Wenders' film "The Goalkeeper's Fear of the Penalty" from 1972.
I have written and performed advertising jingles for among others, Rover 2000, C & A, Yellow Pages, DAB Pils and all types of household goods from toothpaste to WC ducks.
